Hi, I’m Salima.

I love shaping environments and moments that help people feel something, reflect, or connect more deeply—with themselves, with others, and with ideas bigger than them.

I’ve created this page to offer a snapshot of my work. From immersive camp design at Burning Man to my own solo exhibition in Lisbon, I’ve been exploring how to shape experiences that are intentional, resonant, and community-oriented. This mentorship feels like the next step in deepening that work and really learning the fundamentals of curation.

Here are a few of my recent projects.

a lua, minha alma (the moon, my soul)

My solo exhibition in Lisbon, Portugal was in April 2024 and featured 16 original oil paintings. The series of whimsical and ethereal paintings were inspired by a sense of nostalgia for an unknown world. I spent months painting, planning, and developing the theme and story. I then curated a selection of paintings, designed the space and layout, and created an experience for guests from the moment they entered the palace.

Serendipitea - a Burning Man camp

I’ve been involved in the camp for 3 years as both the Artist in Residence and a core crew member. My experience in the camp is vast, as I can pull on skills gained in both my creative and professional pursuits. As the AiR for the camp, I’ve had the opportunity to design many large scale murals, create collaborative art projects for individuals to contribute to and host workshops on connecting to creativity and intuition. I also support the design, decor and layout of the camp. I ensure we make sustainable choices and purchase reusable items that we can use annually, implement a cohesive design throughout the camp, and create enough spaces for connection and serendipitous moments. Beyond that, I am the project manager for the camp each year, bringing efficiency and clarity to the work we do. Lastly, I create delightful moments for our campers that makes their experience at Serendipitea feel like home.

ClassDojo

ClassDojo annual offsites bring together employees for a week of connection, work and inspiration. My goal with each of these is to help employees feel more connected to their team, to the work they do and to the vision of the company. I work closely with our leadership team to set a clear vision for the event and then I execute against that vision, ensuring each and every moment has intention behind it.

I’ve organized 7 offsites since joining the company, ranging in size from 35 to 90 attendees. I run these events start to finish, from choosing a location down to the final dinner. Curating an exceptional experience is something I really pride myself on and I aim to have each event exceed the teams’ expectations. Surprising the team with little moments of joy or thoughtfulness really tie the experience together.
